1 Registration
Applications to all programs should ONLY be done online through the CUMT

2 Application Materials
For all degrees

• A passport photo;                         

• A copy of passport (the photo page) valid for more than one year;

• A copy of your final degree transcripts (written in Chinese or English);

• A copy of your final degree certificate (written in Chinese or English) & the Transcripts and the Degree Certificate in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations;

• the HSK-4 certificate (for Chinese-Medium programs if available);

• the English language proficiency certificate (for English –Medium Program students from non-English speaking countries);

• the physical exam completed within the last 6 months (the International Student Physical Examination Form can be downloaded from and should be completed in your country);

• A bank statement;

• A non-criminal / background certificate within the last 6 months issued by the police of your homeland.

For Masters and PHD programs:

• A research proposal;

• Reference letters (from undergraduate or masters university);

• A recommendation letter from CUMT prospective tutor (the Recommendation Form can be downloaded from http://sac.cumt.edu.cn/en/13575/list.htm).

3 Application Schedule

4 Registration Date
March OR September (specified in the Admission Letter) 

5 Scholarship
CUMT provides scholarships for outstanding international students who intend to study at the University.

6 Entrance Examination

Students applying for English taught courses should take the entrance examination of English language when register in CUMT. If students do not pass the examination, they need to learn Chinese language for one year and transfer to Chinese taught courses after they get the HSK4 certificate (HSK≥180).

Following students can apply for an exemption from the examination：

1. Native English speakers;

2. Students who got at least 5.5 in the IELTS or at least 79 in TOEFL (the scores of both IELTS and TOEFL should be valid within two years before the registration).

7 Medical Insurance

The Chinese Ministry of Education requires that all international students must be medically insured throughout their entire planned period of study. Students are required to purchase the Comprehensive Insurance Plan for Foreign Students online before the registration or on the day of registration. Students who do not have valid medical insurance are not allowed to register.

8 Visa Information
Students admitted to CUMT may apply visa at the Chinese Embassy/Consulate in their country with admission letter and JW201/202 form. International students who will study in China for over 6 months are required to obtain an ‘X1’ Visa, which will only be valid for 30 days after arrival in China. International students must come to the International Students Division and apply for a Residence Permit within these 30 days in order to stay in China.

9 the Route to CUMT

From the airport: You may take the shuttle bus from the airport to Wenchang Campus(中国矿业大学文昌校区), CUMT directly and get off in the terminal station, which costs 20 yuan (RMB).

From the Xuzhou East station:

(a) You may arrive at the Wenchang Campus by bus No.72 and get off in the station of CUMT（中国矿业大学文昌校区）, which costs 2 yuan (RMB). You should prepare changes by yourselves.

(b) You may also arrive at the Wenchang Campus by taxi, which costs around 40 yuan (RMB).

From the Xuzhou station:

(a) You may arrive at the Wenchang campus by bus No.11, No.11(附), No.19 and get off in the station of CUMT（中国矿业大学文昌校区）, which costs 2 yuan (RMB). You should prepare changes by yourselves.

(b) You may also arrive at the Wenchang Campus by taxi, which costs around 20 yuan (RMB).
